Domesticated nonhuman animals are viewed as property, which makes enforcing and passing legislation to improve their welfare a low priority. Luckily, a senator in Connecticut has plans to introduce legislation that would better protect dogs in puppy mills and create stiffer penalties for people who abuse animals. Most animal abuse cases are dismissed or not prosecuted, but these bills might help change that. However, no timeline has been set for the introduction of these laws, and abused animals shouldn’t have to wait any longer to receive protection. Please sign this petition to urge lawmakers in Connecticut to pass these animal abuse laws immediately!
