Loneliest Cat at Shelter Gets Special Gifts Thanks to Kind Person

loneliest cat stares through cage door

When a donor called the Australian Animal Protection Society in Victoria asking who the loneliest cat at the shelter was, staff immediately thought of Maggie. The shy cat has been at the shelter for more than four months. Prospective adopters have consistently ignored the feline because she takes a while to warm up to new people. However, the donor wanted to make sure that the loneliest cat in the shelter got her fair share of joy this holiday season.

According to a video posted to the shelter’s TikTok page, the donor “wanted to buy Maggie some new toys that she would love, just for her”. So, the lucky cat got two brand new scratchers, one of which is shaped like a rainbow. Although she needed some time to investigate the new toys, she quickly fell in love with them.

Although Maggie was dubbed the loneliest cat in the shelter, this does not mean that she is undeserving of a loving home. Cats can take several months to adapt to new surroundings, including new people. For shy cats such as Maggie, patience is key. Giving a shy cat a safe space to retreat to and all the time they need to adjust can be crucial in making them feel comfortable in their new home.

The TikTok video’s viewers loved seeing Maggie receive her gifts. Many people enquired about adopting her. Hopefully, the “loneliest cat” will soon find a loving new home!
