In a viral video with over 55.4 million views, an animal chiropractor can be seen performing adjustments on several dogs. Ranging from a black Poodle to a massive Pit Bull, the dogs display various reactions. The Pit Bull’s tail can be seen wagging, but another dog is seen growling at the chiropractor after having his neck cracked. Generally, the pups appear stunned and confused by what has happened to them. The viral video of the animal chiropractor has drawn intense criticism online.
Why!?!
by inTikTokCringe
The animal chiropractor in this video is Murat Colak, who goes by @boneshandsanimals. With 3.5 million followers on TikTok, the animal chiropractor originally shared the hotly debated video on his account. From there, it was posted to Reddit, where many people noted that the animals in the video did not seem pleased to have the animal chiropractor performing adjustments on them. “Jesus Christ, how does he not see this is bad when literally each dog either wants to kill him or looks terrified?” reads one comment on the platform. However, a response from Hailey the Rottie’s human supports Colak. Hailey is the second dog seen in the video. A video of the Rottweiler having her neck adjusted by Colak can be seen on her Instagram page. Alongside the video, a caption reads “I AM! Happier than ever.”
It is unclear whether chiropractic adjustments are beneficial for humans, let alone other animals such as dogs and cats. There can be severe adverse side effects from chiropractic procedures such as slipped discs and hernias. Like chiropractors for humans, animal chiropractors manipulate the spine to provide treatment. Since the spine is an important part of the central nervous system, improper care can have devastating results. When choosing a human or animal chiropractor, it is important to select someone who has received extensive training and is properly certified. However, humans seeking chiropractic treatment for their animal companions should note that there is a lack of research into whether chiropractic care is safe for non-human animals. A growing body of evidence suggests that its benefits are doubtful in humans and, as can be seen in the controversy surrounding Colak, there’s a debate as to whether chiropractic treatment is safe for other animals.
