Ellie Laks, an animal behaviorist, recently used her unique communication skills to help two animals go from enemies to BFFs. For decades, Laks has dedicated herself to rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding homes for animals, utilizing her unique gift to foster understanding and compassion between animals.

A recent case brought to light Laks’ extraordinary talents when Katie Otto found herself in need. Katie, grappling with the challenge of integrating her lab mix, Monkey, into a household already inhabited by Medi, the family cat, was on the brink of having to make a difficult decision.

Medi, once the ruler of the household, expressed his discontent with the disruptive presence of Monkey through Ellie’s mediation. Medi’s frustration and reluctance to accept Monkey as anything more than a disturbance were easy to see by her mom and Laks. Yet, through Laks’ sessions, Medi’s grievances were aired, his preferences considered, and a path to reconciliation emerged.

In separate consultations, Laks consulted with both Monkey and Medi, facilitating an exchange of understanding that some may not think possible for animals. Monkey, receptive to Laks’ guidance, transformed from a boisterous puppy to a serene companion, adapting his behavior for Medi’s needs. Through patience, Monkey and Medi’s relationship blossomed from tentative coexistence to genuine friendship.

Katie Otto was more than happy with the outcome of the animal behaviorist’s intervention. It not only brought her two pets together but created a more harmonious household.
