A dog named Toni was abandoned just steps away from the Stray Rescue of St. Louis animal shelter in Missouri. A local mail carrier witnessed Toni being pushed out of a car in the pouring rain on November 5, leaving the young dog stranded and visibly distressed. The shelter later shared a video of Toni calling out in confusion and fear, which quickly garnered community sympathy and outrage.
Stray Rescue of St. Louis posted about the incident on their Facebook page, writing, “Our mail carrier just witnessed this dog get pushed out of a car down the street from our shelter. Dumped out in the rain, but we got you now.” The shelter has since cared for Toni, offering her warmth and safety.
Comments flooded the post as people shared their sadness and anger. “She is beautiful! How could someone do that? There is a special place for those people!” wrote one user, Michelle Stahlhut. Another commenter, Ashley Wickham, expressed hope for Toni’s future, saying, “Oh the sadness in her eyes … Just wait, angel. You’re about to start the best part of your life!” Toni is now available for adoption, and the shelter is optimistic that she will soon find a loving home.
