To celebrate National Animal Therapy Day, seniors at the Henderson Health and Rehab Center in Las Vegas enjoyed a special visit from therapy dogs and a therapy bunny. This touching event, organized in collaboration with the Black Mountain Lions Club, highlighted the healing power of animal touch and its remarkable effect on our well-being.

Sue Grundfest, the founder of Love Dog Adventures and Pet Partners of Las Vegas, recognizes the significant benefits animal therapy can offer. After starting Love Dog Adventures in New York City with her fluffy white poodle, Coco, she joined forces with Pet Partners to establish Pet Partners of Las Vegas / Love Dog Adventures. This program is dedicated to fostering physical and emotional healing through interactive animal-assisted therapy and community education.

Animal therapy goes beyond being a delightful experience. Studies have demonstrated that engaging with animals can yield concrete health benefits, such as stress reduction, decreased blood pressure, and relief from feelings of loneliness or depression. This form of therapy is particularly beneficial for seniors, who may be facing age-related challenges, as it provides comfort, companionship, and emotional Support.

In acknowledgment of the immense value that animal therapy contributes to the community, the city of Henderson has declared Sunday as Animal Therapy Day. National Animal Therapy Day is a day dedicated to celebrating therapy animals and their human handlers who bring comfort and healing to those in need. It aims to raise public awareness about the vital role these animals play in enhancing human health and well-being while also honoring the countless compassionate handlers who volunteer their time at various settings, including hospitals, pediatric care units, schools, and assisted living facilities.
