There’s more than one way to make a tasty and nutritious smoothie. In fact, the combinations are seemingly endless! The matrix below is a guide for making a basic green smoothie, including some of the more commonly used ingredients. Simply choose at least one ingredient from each column, blend, and enjoy a nutritious breakfast, snack or even dessert!
A few notes:
| ½ to 1 cup liquid | 2 cups greens | 1 cup frozen fruit | add-in’s |
| soy milk | spinach | banana | nut butter |
| almond milk | kale | cherries | cocoa or mesquite powder |
| coconut milk | swiss chard | blueberries | vanilla extract |
| coconut water | romaine or leaf lettuce | strawberries, raspberries, blackberries | protein powder |
| flax milk | turnip, beet, collard, dandelion greens | mango, pineapple, papaya | ginger, cinnamon, other spices |
| hemp milk | parsley | peach, plum, pear | dates |

Add bee pollen for energy! Technically not vegan but amazing. Chia/flax/hemp seeds add some extra fiber and protein too. I sometimes mix a little splash of juice with the nut milk too. Be creative!!
Canteloupe is great in a green smoothie, especially with spinach. Creamy and delicious : )
