Using words, plenty of research, the occasional dose of sarcasm, and a whole lot of love for the planet, I aim to change the world for the better by sharing information and sparking discussions about some of Earth's most pressing issues. A graduate of Baruch College with a B.A. in Journalism and Psychology, I combine my knowledge of human behavior with my love for writing to help people realize the incredible power we all have to leave this Earth a little better than when we arrived. When I'm not writing, I'm exploring nature, finding (and eating) the best plant-based food New York has to offer, and going to as many concerts as I possibly can. All around the world, there are millions of homeless animals who are helplessly ignored every day. Sometimes people are scared to approach them out of fear. Some may be wary of getting too close to a dog with mange. And some people simply pass these pups because they don’t believe it’s their responsibility to take care of the animal.
While, it’s true that some stray dogs can become angrily frustrated from having to fend for themselves on the streets and may attack, or some dogs may have a contagious condition, most pups that are homeless, really only seek one thing: love. We’ve seen it time and time again. A homeless puppy will transform from skittish to comforted from just a few gentle pats on the head. We’ve seen dogs demonstrate their gratitude when a passerby was sweet enough to stop and provide them with some food or drink. And of course, we’ve seen the amazing transformation that can occur when someone is kind enough to give a stray animal a forever home. For as many people that ignore these innocent creatures, there are people out there, that will see stray animals and realize that they deserve help just as much as anyone else.
With so many stray animals on the street and so many stresses in our own lives, taking on the responsibility of caring for another creature can be too overwhelming for some. However, those who inconvenience themselves for the life of a stray, know that they are changing that animal’s life for the better. Who knows how much longer Ojitos would have survived on the streets of Peru if Joyci and Bianca hadn’t stepped in and lent him a hand. Thankfully we never have to find out. Now, Ojitos is safe and sound, healthy, and gets loads of love from his two angel saviors. We wish him the best!
