For domesticated dogs, it doesn’t take long for people to realize if they have fallen ill or have some sort of physical ailment. After all, dogs are our furry best friends. We notice when they are running differently, when they seem to be in pain during cuddles, or if something is just off. Unfortunately, stray dogs don’t always have human friends to look out after them, and physical ailments can quickly go from bad to worse if left untreated.
That was the unfortunate case for Agnes, the stray pup in the video above. For at least six months, this seven-year-old mixed breed had to fend for herself on the streets of Greece. Considering Agnes had a huge tumor hanging from her neck, she was very memorable amongst passersby. Some fed the pup, others taunted her, but finally one kind person took a moment to call Greek Animal Rescue (GAR).
After locating the dog, the rescue team immediately took Agnes to a vet where she was treated for multiple shot wounds and tumors, and eventually started her journey of recovery. Within three months, Agnes recovered fully and was taken in by a loving family. Pet homelessness is a huge problem in the U.S. and around the world, and as easy as it is to turn the other way and ignore an animal on the street, Agnes is a prime example of the wonderful life a stray dog can have when given just a bit of attention and care. We can all do our part to help end pet homelessness.
