Buzz Petition

Here is the good news: Pizza Hut is permanently adding vegan cheese to 262 locations after a successful eight-week trial period! The pizza chain is offering dairy-free cheese made by Greek brand Violife and the cheese will be offered for all pizzas for a small extra price and will be free for all pizzas on the children’s menu!

Pretty cool, right? Well, here’s the bad news: the cruelty-free option is currently only available to U.K. locations. Bummer! But we can change that!

A petition on Care2 is urging Pizza Hut not to forget about those of us here in the States, calling the chain to not, “…abandon your vegan American fans. We’re so glad the Brits love you and that you love them back. But we love you, too! So please love us back.” But we have a feeling that is much more than just vegans who would love to see some dairy-free cheese options in the U.S.

The vegan cheese industry is set to reach $3.5 billion worldwide by 2023, according to a report by Market Research Future (MRF). With concerns over allergens as well as antibiotic and hormone use, and animal welfare concerns  – not to mention the rising environmental concerns associated with dairy consumption, it’s no surprise that over one-third of consumers prefer dairy-free milks and U.S. milk consumption has declined. In tandem, a number of new vegan cheese products have recently hit the market, making the decision to choose a better choice for animals, the environment, and your own health very simple.

So why no vegan pizza here in the United States!? Pizza Hut, you better step up your game! If you agree that Pizza Hut should add a vegan cheese option in the states, please sign this Care2 petition, which will be directly delivered to Pizza Hut’s CEO, David W. Gibbs and be sure to share the petition with your fellow animal lovers!

im wondering about cross contamination - although i am very pleased that main stream companies such as pizza hut are actually offering a vegan option although they continue to support factory farming so therefore i prefer to dine elsewhere - just sayin '

First, they need to get "no cheese" concept right. We have to say it like 10 times, or the bread gets all burnt, or they screw up and put it on anyway...

Frances Schmidt... I'm saying this because in Germany there are big meat factories who want to buy into the vegan trend by producing plant-based sausages etc. So the people/vegans who buy their products are buying plant-based products literally right out of giant slaughterhouses, where animals are kept and killed in horrendous conditions.

... at the same time we have a growing number of small shops and restaurants that really care and we should support and promote them instead. Pizza Hut is just in for their cut in a thriving market, nothing else.
