Want Pizza Hut to Offer Vegan Cheese in the U.S.? Tell Them NOW!

Here is the good news: Pizza Hut is permanently adding vegan cheese to 262 locations after a successful eight-week trial period! The pizza chain is offering dairy-free cheese made by Greek brand Violife and the cheese will be offered for all pizzas for a small extra price and will be free for all pizzas on the children’s menu!

Pretty cool, right? Well, here’s the bad news: the cruelty-free option is currently only available to U.K. locations. Bummer! But we can change that!

A petition on Care2 is urging Pizza Hut not to forget about those of us here in the States, calling the chain to not, “…abandon your vegan American fans. We’re so glad the Brits love you and that you love them back. But we love you, too! So please love us back.” But we have a feeling that is much more than just vegans who would love to see some dairy-free cheese options in the U.S.

The vegan cheese industry is set to reach $3.5 billion worldwide by 2023, according to a report by Market Research Future (MRF). With concerns over allergens as well as antibiotic and hormone use, and animal welfare concerns  – not to mention the rising environmental concerns associated with dairy consumption, it’s no surprise that over one-third of consumers prefer dairy-free milks and U.S. milk consumption has declined. In tandem, a number of new vegan cheese products have recently hit the market, making the decision to choose a better choice for animals, the environment, and your own health very simple.

So why no vegan pizza here in the United States!? Pizza Hut, you better step up your game!
