Good hearts and kind spirits can be found anywhere and in anyone, regardless of age or circumstance. Kelsey, the Illinois-based teen featured in this video, shows that teens and young adults can set an example for people decades their senior.
Kelsey and her mother were driving to a swap-meet in a neighboring town at 5:30 in the morning when they decided to take a different route, that’s when they saw an extremely emaciated horse eating some dry grass on the side of the road.
The severity of the animal’s situation was obvious even from the window of a speeding car. The two pulled over and tried to load the horse, later named Sunni, into their truck to take her home. In the process of hoisting the horse from the side of the road and into the car, Sunni flopped over into a ditch and stopped moving. Her rescuers feared that Sunni had given up.
At this point, Kelsey realized that she had no choice but to personally guide Sunni to her home over nine miles away. Once they finally made it to Kelsey’s home, the kind teen was able to see the true extent of Sunni’s injuries. Worried that the horse wouldn’t survive the night, Kelsey slept by her side in the barn. She continued to sleep with Sunni for five nights until they were certain the horse was out of the woods.
Now, Sunni has made a full recovery and is a kind, loving companion to Kelsey. Many say that Kelsey was an angel in disguise for Sunni, but to Kelsey, it’s the other way around!
Just another example of how far one small act of kindness can go! Enjoy your life together, Kelsey and Sunni!
