If anyone ever doubted that an animal mom could love her babies just as ferociously as a human mother loves hers, this video will blow that skepticism away.
This clip is part of a series of videos posted by the World Animal Awareness Society, which aims to portray “the ongoing stories of the people and the dogs of the city of Detroit,” covering the efforts that are being made to deal with the city’s stray dog crisis.
Here, the Society comes across a mother dog who is fiercely guarding her five two-week-old puppies under a derelict house where her guardians once lived, before abruptly abandoning her. Animal protection workers Charles Durfee and Myron Golden, of the Michigan Humane Society, have their work cut out for them trying to rescue the family, as the protective mom initially refuses to allow them anywhere near the pups. As soon as she finally allows herself to be taken out from under the house, however, the rescue goes off without a hitch!
Good luck in your new life, mom and pups!
