Learning about the brutal dog meat trade industry is certainly distressing. The thought of millions of dogs and cats in China, and elsewhere in Asia, awaiting the ghastly fate of being tortured and killed for their meat is a thought that brings heartbreak to any animal lover.
But knowing there are countless organizations, activists, and celebrities urging for a ban on the dog meat trade gives us hope. Great strides have been made to ban the dog meat trade and we will continue to fight. In April, we got word that Taiwan will become the first Asian country to ban the consumption of dog and cat meat. What’s more, the majority of citizens in China do not agree with the dog meat trade and have actively been working to end this barbaric practice.
Now, Soi Dog Foundation, a non-profit organization with a mission to “improve the welfare of dogs and cats in Asia,” saved 600 dogs from the dog meat industry in a recent emergency rescue. As you can see in the above video, activists ambushed the truck carrying the dogs and freed them from their certain death. Now the 600 dogs urgently need medical care and shelter. If you are able to Donate, you can do so here.
Agree with the kind activists in the video? With over 10 million dogs believed to be slaughtered for their meat in China annually, we must keep the momentum going. Animals Asia is encouraging people to sign a letter in Support of the dedicated citizens in China tirelessly fighting to end the dog meat trade. The letter will go directly to the Chinese government and will show that thousands of people around the globe stand with the animals lovers calling for a ban.
Show you stand in solidarity with Chinese animal lovers, by signing the letter here. And be sure to send this post to everyone you know. We must never stop fighting to end this barbaric industry!

GREAT CARING SOULS AT SOI DOG TO SAVE THESE 600 DOGS FROM BEING FOOD. SIGNED THE PETITION.
And it is indeed heartbreaking to see them stacked upon each other like apples in a box. in just that short time tears came to my eyes. I have one dogs who just came back form a walk in the woods and another who is not a fan of those walks but is now lying next to me unaware of all that other dogs endure. He gets plenty of exercise but not our behind the house in the woods walks.
People are concerned with dogs because they have them as companions as do I. In the end though no animal should ever suffer for the purposes of people. Still it breaks my heart to know what those poor dogs go through for the apse beliefs of people who are ignorant enough to believe them. I am thankful that those 600 are now safe. Every day I ask what is wrong with people and every day i am grateful for the ones who care.
