Unbelievable! Cruel People Left Dog Chained During Fire and Let Him Suffer for 2 Weeks Before Seeking Help

Author Bio

I am a writer and illustrator living in Poland.

Ziggy was the victim of what Rescue Dogs Rock NYC describes as one of the worst abuse cases the organization had encountered in their years of work. The story of this little dog is shocking – he was chained in the yard when a fire ignited at his guardians’ home. Instead of cutting him loose, his cruel owners left him to die in the fire. Miraculously, Ziggy survived – and now he is finally free from his chain and getting the best medical care in order for his body to heal.

When fire reached Ziggy, it engulfed him and caused severe injuries to his body. The dog sustained second and third-degree burns. Unbelievably, the people responsible for the dog left him on the chain for two weeks after the incident, without providing him with medical help!

The poor animal’s skin is now peeling off from the intense burns he endured. The burn marks are visible around his eyes, on his ears, his back, legs, and underside. Because they were left untreated for a long time, the majority of the burned areas are now also infected.

Despite the unimaginable pain he is still experiencing, Ziggy remains “sweet and gentle,” the rescuers write. The rescue team is now determined to help him in every way possible, providing the very best medical care they can give him, and “showing him that it’s not too late to experience the love of a real family.”

Unfortunately, the rescue predicts that no charges will be brought against the people responsible for the dog’s suffering, due to the lack of relevant laws in the rural South where the incident took place.

More importantly, Ziggy is now safe and far from the people who let him experience something so deeply disturbing. He will need extensive – and expensive – treatment as well as lots of attention during his recovery process. We can only hope that this sweet pup will end up with a new loving home and be able to forget all the horrors of his past.

You can help Ziggy recover by donating to his medical care. To learn more about Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, click here.

  1. At least the dog is safe now even though charges aren’t being brought against the abusers. I couldn’t find the names of the abusers. Is there a register (even unofficial) of people who have abused animals?
