We think we might have the best happy ending for a story that we have seen in a while … get some tissues ready, because we’re pretty sure there will be some happy tears before the end of this!

Rescue Dogs Rock brought us the horrific story of Champ a few months back, a dog who had gotten caught up in the middle of a domestic dispute and was left for dead. The former girlfriend of Champ’s owner kept Champ at her home and left him to starve in revenge for her failed relationship.

When Champ was found, he was less than half his ideal body weight, and just hours away from dying. His gums were white because of how anemic he was, and Champ couldn’t even stand because he was so weak.

Champ immediately captured the hearts of thousands of people the world over after he was saved by Rescue Dogs Rock. Everyone was desperate to see this poor dog make a full recovery after being treated so terribly.

We all waited with baited breath for every update, relieved when Champ started to look better and was well enough to move to a foster home. Here he is getting a hug from his foster dad!

Champ made lots of new friends at his foster home, revealing his playful side, showing he would make an ideal candidate for a loving family once better.

Champ had to put on enough weight for the vets to be happy that he was ready to be rehomed; he has almost doubled his weight, and we couldn’t be prouder!

Here is Champ having his check-up, though we suspect what is happening here is that Champ is on the lookout for treats…

Champ will soon be living the life he was always meant to with a family that adores him. And because he is only moving to Detroit, he will be close enough to still visit his foster family. Our hearts are full, our days have been made. We can only wish Champ the very best of luck, as he deserves every good thing in the world.

No dog should be made to suffer like Champ has up until now. No shelter should be brimming full of dogs in need of a home. We have to adopt, we have to take care of these animals who need and deserve to be loved. If you are looking to adopt, please consider reaching out to Champ’s rescuers Rescue Dogs Rock! 1. I sure hope there is a special place in hell for those that mistreat and neglect animals/pets like that! Yeah Champ and my best wishes to his new family too. From an old Detroiter!

  2. Champ has won the campionship.
He held on to life all the way whilst his guardians cheered him on.
So happy Champ found a loving forever home. May he live out his days knowing he is loved and cared for as he should have been from the beginning of his life.
