Summer at Australia’s Coral Coast is a special time of year – and it’s not just because the weather is totally gorgeous … it’s the time when baby sea turtle eggs finally hatch!
In this video, you can see Hawksbill, Green, and Loggerhead turtle babies clamoring towards the ocean’s edge for the very first time. They’re only about the size of a palm, but they’ll grow to an enormous size in a decade or two! Three of the world’s seven great sea turtle species are represented here – so this is definitely a big deal.
Sea turtles around the globe have been facing extinction for years now. Between environmental pollution and poachers, their populations are facing serious challenges. But luckily, there are many Animal rights organizations stepping up to defend the turtles before they disappear forever.
