Remember the adorable wolf cub Nikai, who charmed hundreds of you with his adorable hiccups and baby yawns last week? He’s just found a new friend, in the form of a thirteen-week-old border collie named Faye.
Staff at the Wolf Conservation Center (WCC) in New York say that the date with Faye was arranged so that Nikai could “benefit from socialising with another puppy. Faye is a perfect date for him – patient, intelligent and boundlessly energetic – she likes to control the toys, but she constantly engages Nikai and is completely comfortable roughhousing with him.”
As you can see in the video above, Faye certainly does like to retain control of all the toys, but Nikai is no slouch when it comes to challenging her supremacy! The two puppies eventually call a truce, but not before becoming embroiled in a pretty intense tug-of-war.
As a new Wolf Ambassador for WCC, it is hoped that Nikai will “help WCC wolves Atka, Zephyr, and Alawa open the door to understanding the importance and plight of their wild kin.” To keep up with Nikai’s journey and to find out more about WCC’s great work with wolves, follow the Center on Facebook or via their website.
