Hankies at the ready, Green Monsters – this video is sure to tug at your heartstrings. It tells the story of Rudy, a puppy who had been severely abused, and was scheduled to die before he was saved by rescue group Houston Street Dogs (HSD). Rudy had injuries consistent with abuse and severe beatings, including a broken hip. In addition to a number of eye, ear and skin infections, he was suffering from worms, pneumonia, mange. It was also evident that the poor dog had been starved.
On arrival at his new foster home, Rudy was initially “scared of everything,” and found it hard to trust in the kindness of the humans who had stepped in to help him. However, he was thrilled to receive a warm meal for the first time, and sleep in a comfortable bed! Little by little, he built up his confidence, “stopped fearing people and began to smile.”
The one thing that still prevents him from living life to the full is a requirement for hip replacement surgery. His battered hips – a sad remnant of his former abuse – cause him a lot of pain, and stop him from moving around as freely as he would like to. Kelly Williams of HSD now set up a YouCaring fund-raising appeal to help pay for the surgery. You can contribute to Rudy’s appeal, and help ensure that he finds the true peace and happiness he deserves, here.
