Life isn’t easy for stray dogs, but it’s especially difficult for dogs with long, curly hair. When left without proper grooming or upkeep, their gorgeous coats tangle, and mat causing blisters, sores, and other painful lesions on the dog’s skin.
Joey, the dog in this video, was found in a common “dog dumping” area in Orange County, California by OC Animal Care. His beautiful white hair was extensively knotted due to neglect. Rescuers believe that Joey probably had a home before he was abandoned here.
After living on the street for over three months, he was extremely distrusting of humans. Ordinarily this behavior would require months of rehab and training before he could be adopted out, but his caretakers quickly realized he was just scared and hungry. After a bath and a haircut from Hollywood Rescue Grooming, Joey was as pleasant as can be!
This cutie wasn’t the only dog to get a bit of pampering that day. Hollywood Grooming teamed up with OC Animal Care to clean up over 50 dogs like Joey! To learn more about this awesome organization, visit their website.
