This cake is the definition of a healthy dessert. It's made with wholesome ingredients like walnuts, spelt flour, coconut sugar, banana, coconut oil, and almond milk, and even has a yummy chocolate sauce made from cacao, coconut oil, and maple. Ingredients You Need for Walnut Cake With Chocolate Sauce [Vegan]

For the Cake:

  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup wholemeal spelt flour
  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar or 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1/2 of 1 banana, mashed
  • 1 tablespoon linseed
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean essence
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons water of almond milk, if required
  • 1/3 cup additional whole walnuts

For the Chocolate Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons cacao powder
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup

How to Prepare Walnut Cake With Chocolate Sauce [Vegan]

  1. Make the chocolate sauce by mixing all of the ingredients together.
  2. Preheat oven to 435°F and line a round cake tin with some baking paper.
  3. Put the walnuts in a food processor and mix until it becomes fine.
  4. In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients: walnuts, baking soda, pinch of salt, cinnamon, spelt flour, vanilla, and coconut sugar.
  5. In a different bowl, mash the banana with a fork or put it in the food processor.
  6. Add in the almond milk, linseed, and coconut oil.
  7. Mix the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients.
  8. Add in a few whole walnuts, then pour into a cake pan.
  9. Cook for 60 minutes at 390°F.
  10. Top with more whole walnuts and some chocolate sauce. Serve.

  1. Hi Claire, I made it this cake yesterday evening, put it in the fridge and ate it today after lunch. Perfect texture, the taste is buttery and sweet. It was delicious! My children loved it too. You wrote two different oven temperatures on your recipe. It seemed a little high for a cake so I simply bake it at 365F (or 185C) for 45min. It turned out great. Not problem to unmold it. Thank you for the recipe. I\’ll use it again. It\’s a keeper!
