When most people think of football food, they tend to imagine gooey queso, smokey hot dogs, and oily bites of buffalo wings. Plant-based food rarely makes it on the menu unless it’s in chip form. But for one NFL team, eating plant-based isn’t just for game day, but for every day of the week!

Meet the Tennessee Titan’s plant-based Guru: Charity Morgan. Wife of Titans linebacker Derrick Morgan, Charity is a plant-based chef and graduate of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. Under Charity’s guidance, The Tennessee Titans have moved as a team to a plant-based diet. Morgan began by making her husband plant-based meals, and then the other members of the team followed one right after the other. Because of her contributions to the team she has been featured on ESPN.com, and regularly shares photos of herself and the team enjoying her plant-based cuisine on Instagram.

As for the members of the team, her husband Derrick had this to say:

“Overcoming the preconceived notions is the biggest part. I was a part of it. I used to believe athletes had to eat meat to maintain play, then I educated myself.”

Although there are plenty of vegan professional athletes There is still plenty of stigma when it comes to men in the plant-based community. Charity Morgan and the Tennessee Titans are doing their part to change all that.
