A startup called Meati is striving for fungi dominance in the vegan meat industry by using fermented mycelium to develop meat alternatives.
Meati delivers an impressive amount of nutrition, including protein and plenty of fiber. The startup also claims to be lower in sodium and saturated fats than its competition.
Tyler Huggins, the co-founder of Meati, said, “Meati delivers a nutritionally dense whole-food protein but uses a small fraction of the ingredients used in most plant-based meats – the end product is essentially just mycelium with seasoning. We’re excited to begin testing with key customers in early 2022, and from there will strategically scale across channels to make Meati more available and accessible to consumers nationally.”
These mycelium-based products offer delicious and realistic alternatives to real meat, even being able to look and feel like meat when cut or cubed.
This vegan meat is expected to open up the vegan meat market even more, providing customers with more options that are even healthier and more realistic.
Reducing your meat intake and eating more plant-based foods is known to help with chronic inflammation, heart health, mental wellbeing, fitness goals, nutritional needs, allergies, gut health, and more! Unfortunately, dairy consumption also has been linked to many health problems, including acne, hormonal imbalance, cancer, prostate cancer, and has many side effects.
For those interested in eating more plant-based, we highly recommend purchasing one of our plant-based cookbooks or downloading the Food Monster App which has thousands of delicious recipes making it the largest vegan recipe resource to help reduce your environmental footprint, save animals and get healthy! And, while you are at it, we encourage you to also learn about the environmental and health benefits of a plant-based diet.
