London’s foremost steakhouse, Hawksmoor, isn’t just a one-and-done enterprise. The famous meat-heavy eatery has four sister restaurants, each with menus just as seafood and animal-meat heavy as the last.
Foxlow, one of those sister restaurants that is known for meat-heavy promotions such as its “Short-Rib Wednesdays”, has decided to take the initiative to trial a vegan menu for the month of November in honor of World Vegan Month.
While owners Will Beckett and Huw Gott and chefs Richard Turner and Lewis Hannaford are well known in their community for providing meat-lovers with their protein of choice, they say they’ve been leaning more plant-based for some time now, especially with Foxlow.
“We love our meat and fish it’s true, however at Foxlow we have leaned towards plant-centric dishes and vegan month presents a delicious challenge to pursue this even further,” Turner told Eater London.

Added Gott: “We always wanted it to be really flexible, so you could come and eat really healthily if you want, or come and indulge, but you’d always feel comfortable with where your food came from and what it’s doing for you.”
The new Foxlow menu will feature menu items such as carrot hummus with carrot top pesto and chili, roast acorn squash pie with vegan gravy, spice-roasted cauliflower, chickpeas, wilted spinach and curried eggplant sauce, as well as eggplant “steak” with wild mushrooms, onions, and vegan béarnaise, which is a sauce traditionally made with eggs and clarified butter.
