Let them eat vegan cake!

There are more than 7.6 billion people living on our planet, so it stands to reason that countless contrasting and varied opinions are thought, valued, and voiced each and every day — in fact, for the co-hosts of ABC’s “The View”, sharing their opinions on a national platform is actually their job. And their opinion used to be that vegan cake was subpar — until Jon Stewart and his wife, Tracey, set them straight.

Let’s rewind: Last week, when Craig Robinson, who was a guest on “The View”, mentioned that he was on the hunt for a vegan cake for his birthday, The View co-host Paula Faris told him he should “splurge” rather than feast on vegan cake, as though vegan pastries and desserts weren’t delicious in their own right. Then, co-host Sunny Hostin straight-up voiced her skepticism. “But how good is a vegan cake going to be?” she asked Robinson in dismay.

Enter the Stewarts. Jon and Tracey are both outspoken animal rights activists and longtime fans of Bethlehem-based bakery Vegan Treats. So, they decided to put some vegan cake where Faris and Hostin’s cake-bashing mouths were and sent “The View” a few goodies from Vegan Treats.

The hosts then tasted Vegan Treats’ chocolate peanut butter mousse cake encased in Belgian chocolate on-air, which you can watch in the video above.

“Has anybody had a kale cake that’s delicious? No!” Hostin said before taking her first bite — and that’s when everything changed.

“I was wrong,” she admitted, adding that the cake was, in fact, “Delicious.” No surprises there!
