Singapore-based Float Foods is making waves in the plant-based food industry with the launch of two groundbreaking products: OnlyEg Poached Eg and OnlyEg Eg Yolk. These innovative egg alternatives are Asia’s first commercially available plant-based poached egg and egg yolk for food service suppliers, F&B businesses, and distributors worldwide.
Debuting at the Food & Hotel Asia (FHA) exhibition in Singapore, Float Foods’ CEO Vinita Choolani expressed excitement for the new offerings. These plant-based whole eggs are part of the company’s mission to provide sustainable and nutritious food options that benefit both people and the planet.
Float Foods was founded with Support from the Temasek Foundation and the Enterprise Singapore Startup Scheme to create sustainable solutions addressing the environmental impact of egg production, a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions in the food industry. The company is now Singapore’s fastest-selling plant-based egg brand, offering a variety of vegan eggs, such as OnlyEg Shreds, OnlyEg Omelette, and OnlyEg Tamagoyaki.
In September, OnlyEg received the Best Plant-Based Functional Award at the Plant Based Expo in New York City. Their international expansion strategy includes distribution agreements with the UAE’s largest food service distributor, Bidfood Middle East, and Hong Kong’s largest meal kit subscription service, Day Day Cook. Float Foods plans further expansion into Malaysia, Dubai, and Australia starting in June 2023.
Developed using proprietary technology, the legume-based OnlyEg Poached Eg and Eg Yolk offer a nutritious source of protein and dietary fiber, and are cholesterol-free with over 50 percent less saturated fat than chicken eggs. Both products cater to vegans, vegetarians, individuals with egg allergies, and health-conscious consumers.
OnlyEg Poached Eg provides a convenient solution for large chains, hotel breakfast buffets, institutional caterers, and airlines looking to serve plant-based eggs. Meanwhile, OnlyEg Eg Yolk enables chefs to create a wider variety of plant-based menu options by replacing traditional egg yolks.
Float Foods is truly revolutionizing the alternative egg industry, offering a more sustainable and ethical option compared to conventional eggs. So, how can you Support this egg-citing innovation? Share the news, try plant-based egg alternatives, and encourage your local food service providers to offer these sustainable options. Together, we can promote a healthier and more environmentally-friendly food industry.
There are more than 300 million egg-laying hens living in farms across the U.S. These poor animals will suffer greatly during their short lives before being sent to slaughter. Chickens are highly intelligent, sentient beings, and keeping them in these conditions is extremely cruel and inhumane. You might think that purchasing “free-range” or “cage-free” eggs is a solution, but it’s not. Check out Think You Know ‘Free-Range’ and ‘Cage Free’ Chicken? Think Again.
Thankfully, there are many chicken and egg substitutes that are not only delicious but free of all cruelty to animals. When you have an option that is truly better … why bother with anything else?

Well I now eat only about half portions of chicken or tuna & often eat total vegan meals too, but the biggie is TASTE. I keep trying, I only find vegan dishes with lots of mushrooms come close to satisfying my taste buds. And almost EVERY vegan non-meat is basically nasty compared to real meat. PLUS the whole business is so expensive & silly portions that make you laugh when you open the package – and I’m not an American hog eater as so many are – not used to huge portions, yet still most vegan portions are a mockery !
