It seems that every day we hear new reports about animals being abused at the hands of humans. Considering this, every act of human bravery and kindness towards other species is a little beacon of hope that reminds us just how many good people there are in the world. Each and every animal life has an enormous worth – and, fortunately, we can now see many examples of people recognizing that simple but profound truth and stepping in to help.
A cat was recently rescued by a dock worker in London after falling into the Thames River. The black-and-white cat was chased through the streets by another cat and, running at great speed, accidentally plummeted into the river with a big splash. Luckily, although it happened very fast, the situation was noticed by a dock worker who immediately sprang into action. This kind person went to the edge of the embankment and fished the cat out of the water. Back on the pavement, the cat was soaking wet, scared, and confused, but, thanks to the rescuer, completely out of danger – and hopefully never to has a similar adventure ever again!
This great rescue is a wonderful thing to see – but, if faced with a similar situation, it is important to always remember one’s own safety and the safety of the animal in need. Rescue actions should always be carried out with extreme caution and, if possible in less dire scenarios, by a professional rescuer.
