By the very nature of the job, a veterinarian is required to provide the utmost care and compassion for animals and do everything in their power to keep animals healthy and alive. However, there is one veterinarian in Louisiana who did just the opposite of this and shot and killed her neighbor’s dog.

On December 13, 2017, Kelly Folse carried over a gun to her neighbor’s house and shot the fifteen-month-old American Bulldog named Bruiser who was contained in a fenced-in yard. His family rushed him to the Abadie Veterinarian Hospital (ironically the same hospital Folse worked at), where he sadly died as a result of the shooting. Folse was not involved in the care of Bruiser at the hospital.

Thankfully, the hospital fired Folse and she was arrested on charges of aggravated animal cruelty, illegal discharge of a weapon, and two drug offenses for prescription narcotics found in her house without a prescription. Folse’s reasoning for shooting and killing the dog? He was barking.

This shocking display of violence shows that Folse is not only unstable, but demonstrates a complete disregard for animal life, and she does not deserve the title of veterinarian and should have her license revoked. A petition on Care2 has been written to do just that. Please take a moment to sign the petition.

Animal cruelty is a serious violent offense that is linked to other violent crimes. In fact, someone who is violent toward an animal is five times more likely to be violent toward a human, and law enforcement and the judicial system must fully prosecute animal abusers in order to send a clear message that violence toward any living being will not be tolerated in society. If you ever suspect animal abuse in your community, do not hesitate to contact your local law enforcement.

And please remember to share this with your network to help get Folse’s veterinary license revoked!
