Bill Clinton has been doing a lot to share his new-found knowledge on the power of vegan eating, talking about his journey on mainstream television and generally serving as a major advocate for the diet. Now, we’ve just learned that Clinton was told at a recent doctor’s check-up that his heart is now “much younger than it was even 10 years ago,” said his daughter Chelsea during a recent interview on “Mondays with Marlo.”
How’s that for proof that a vegan diet can improve your body from the inside out? Wow!
This is not the only change Clinton has seen since adopting veganism. Since his quadruple bypass surgery in 2004, followed by another surgery in 2010, the former president has made some big changes and has lost at least 30 pounds by being on a vegan diet. What’s more, last year he told AARP (via Mail Online), “I have so much more energy now! I feel great,” he said.
As we have previously reported on OGP, Clinton eats a diet that’s full-on plant-powered: “These days Bill Clinton starts off his day with an almond-milk smoothie, blended with fresh berries, nondairy protein powder and a chunk of ice. For lunch, he usually enjoys some combo of green salad and beans. He snacks on nuts, or hummus with raw vegetables, and dinner often includes quinoa, or sometimes a veggie burger.”
That sounds like one heart-loving diet to us! For more One Green Planet advice on how to get your own ticker in fighting shape, check out our picks for the best plant-based heart-healthy foods.
