When staff from the Forsyth County Animal Shelter arrived for work last week, they found two dogs in kennels with a heartbreaking handwritten note.
The two pups in separate kennels were at the front of the shelter with a note that read: “Take good care of them. Thank you.” The letter also said that the dogs’ names were Simba and Nala, and included information like their breeds, some personality traits and skills, and said that Nala was only about 12 weeks old.
The shelter staff took the dogs inside and posted on the shelter’s official Facebook page addressing the person who dropped them off.
“To the person who left two dogs outside our facility this morning: First off, thank you for leaving them in a spot where we would be sure to see them right away, thank you for securing them in kennels, and thank you for the note,” the post read. “We are sure it must’ve been a difficult, heartbreaking decision to leave such adorable dogs, and we are equally sure you must be struggling right now to make the decision that this was your only option.”
The post asked that the person contact the shelter and give more information about Simba and Nala, “No judgment and no criticism, we promise,” the post added.
The shelter has not heard from the dog’s previous humans, and there has been a huge response to the pups on social media. Since the person who dropped them off has not come forward, Simba and Nala are still considered a stray hold which means they will not be available for adoption until a period of time passes or until someone comes forward.
