Workers from India’s Animal Aid Unlimited — an organization that specializes in the rescue of stray animals — were notified about a dog whose paw had been caught in a rabbit trap. Rushing to the scene, rescuers discovered that the dog’s front leg was in worse condition than expected … and the trap was still clinging to his limb.
Though he was originally frightened by the sight of people, the dog – named Francis – was eventually captured and taken to a veterinarian for urgent care. Francis’s front leg was crushed in a way that made it impossible to save the leg, so the vets ended up needing to have it amputated.
Though Francis is lacking one limb and needs to recover at the Animal Aid shelter, his spirit has not been broken. After his surgery, Francis received a lot of love (and food!) from shelter employees. One worker even comforts the dog by calling him a “brave boy” … and a brave boy he is indeed!
