When firefighter Cory Kalanick responded to a fire, he found an unconscious kitten lying on the ground in a smoke-filled house.

Without hesitation, Kalanick brought the kitten outside where he gave it an oxygen mask, while pouring cold water onto its body. A short while later, the kitten gained consciousness and seemed shaken, but fine.

We are so grateful for this firefighter’s keen eye during a search and rescue, since the kitten was hidden beneath a table, out of sight. Because of caring firefighters like Kalanick and kind-hearted ones like these Turkish firefighters who rescued puppies stuck in a drain pipe and these firefighters who rescued 11 lost ducklings, more animals are given a second chance.
