We all remember the viral video from last week, May 13, showing a cat coming to the rescue of a little boy as he was being attacked by a loose dog. Almost effortlessly, Tara the cat sprang into action hurdling her body like a dart into the dog, then chased him off of the family’s property. If you missed it, you can see it in our article Fast-Acting Hero Cat Saves Boy From Dog Attack.
We now have an awesome and fun follow-up to share. Tara the California cat has thrown, or more like swatted at, the first pitch at a baseball game! With the help of her “people dad,” Tara was honored with throwing the ceremonial pitch at the start of a Bakersfield Blaze baseball game on Tuesday after Jeremy Triantafilo, the little boy who was attacked, threw the first pitch of the game.
The fearless tabby attracted an unusually large crowd of “hero cat” fans to the stadium at the Tuesday night game. Attendance was nearly tripled that night thanks to so many people wanting to honor Tara for her heroic actions.
Want to know what the cherry on top of this entire story is? Tara was a stray cat adopted six years ago by the Triantafilo family after she followed them home from a park.
Care for and love an animal, give them a home, and someday they may just pay you back in a phenomenal way.
