It’s no secret that war zones tend to deliver very little good news. After all, soldiers have to live in dangerous circumstances all the time, and the news all too often reports only the negative aspects of their time abroad. The video above, however, shows that amazing things can happen anywhere! When this Iraqi soldier stumbled upon a dog entangled in a net, he felt sympathetic enough to go gather tools to save him.
Once equipped with a knife, the soldier was able to cut through the net and eventually free the dog. From the wailing and whimpers, it’s obvious that this dog was in serious pain and discomfort. Most might even expect the pup to run away the moment he was free from the wrangled mess. Instead, the dog lingers for a moment, perhaps to say “thank you.”
While normally we would always advise people to contact trained authorities to help with wildlife, this soldier did a truly amazing thing. Hopefully, that dog never finds himself in a similar situation in the future!
NOTE: As an important note, do not try to help wildlife of any sort unless you are trained. Find a local wildlife rehabber/rescuer or veterinarian ASAP, or call a rescue hotline. Here are some that might help!
