Retired Mailman Adopts Abandoned Kitten Found in Mailbox (VIDEO)

When Debbie McKinney went out to fetch her mail and heard “meowing” coming from the box, she knew that there was something more than magazines and letters inside.Upon opening the box, McKinney found a small kitten who was freezing and barely holding on to life. As a cat lover, McKinney felt it was her duty to ensure that this abandoned baby found a loving forever home.

McKinney struggled to find a shelter that would take in the small kitten due to her young age, but at the last minute, Here Kitty Kitty rescued agreed to take her in. The owner of Here Kitty Kitty agreed to care for the cat but was eager to find her a permanent home.

As fate would have it, Dan Shaw, a retired mailman, and his wife had just put down their elderly black-and-white cat, T.J., when a vet tech inquired if the couple would be interested in adopting a kitten who bore a striking resemblance to their beloved feline. Although the couple was reluctant at first, after Shaw heard that the kitten had been discovered in a mailbox, he felt that serendipity stepped in to bring them together.

Once the Shaws met the little mailbox kitten, they could not deny how closely she resembled their T.J. and knew all the signs were too strong to ignore. With that, the kitten became “Mimi” Shaw and has lived happily with the couple ever since.
