Patient Rescuers Help a Homeless Dog With a Painful and Infected Wound on His Back (VIDEO)

There are few sights sadder than a wounded animal who can’t help themselves. That was the case for Gijo, a dog with a horrible wound on his back who was discovered by Guardians of the Voiceless.

The poor dog wandered the streets doing anything to escape all the flies. He even wandered through houses. But the flies wouldn’t leave him alone. Add to that his wound was not only painful but also seriously infected.

When the Guardians caught up with Gijo, who understandably was not calm, they managed to calm him down and begin treating his wound. They started by trimming the hair around the wound. After that, they had to get rid of all the maggots. Finally, they gave him the medication he needed, medication he certainly wouldn’t have gotten without the help of the Guardians.

Gijo is a street dog and is currently staying with one of the kind families who feed and care for him. He will heal with them and the Guardians will return to continue treating his wound until he’s back to his good health.
