When Raisin the Sphynx cat was abandoned at Helping Hands Pet Rescue in Gainesville, Florida, neither she nor anyone else probably suspected what incredible future was in store for this little wrinkly kitty. Her own condition was far from perfect – she was given away because of an eye ulcer so severe that she almost had to have her eye removed.
Raisin’s future changed when a vet student, Lindsey Hidenrite, decided to treat her and make sure that the cat would keep her eye. Now, the kitty has only a minimal amount of scarring – and she is giving back the good vibes by helping the clinic’s animal patients.
“Raisin inspires me every day,” Heffernan told Catster. “Her fans love to see her with all the patients, and they love to see her curiosity with surgery and X-rays. Raisin loves big dogs — not sure what that’s all about, but the bigger the better, and her fans seem to enjoy that!”
The kitty went from needing help herself to giving Support to those that are now in that position — and she inspires all the patients, big and small, to power through their visit and never be scared.

Raisin you are awesome. Rescue animals rule!!
What a unique and loving kitty! I LOVE her haute couture outfits and she seems to enjoy them! The only time I would ever be able to get my kitty into an outfit would be on the trip back from the taxidermist\’s……….
I love the name and although I am not a fan of clothes for animals unless utilitarian I do think she looks petty cute in those dresses. She is beautiful and a star.
Humans could learn a lot from this beautiful cat person. She gives back because she knows what it means to need help. She has learned what most humans don\’t exhibit in their behaviors – she has learned compassion. All who get to know her are better for their experience. I haven\’t met her and I am better for just knowing that she is there to comfort those in need.
