There is no questioning that rabbits are adorable and sweet animals. Sadly, however, these traits alone don’t protect them from cruelty and abuse.
This video features a rescue operation by PETA in one such breeding facility. This commercial breeder was not only raising rabbits for sale as pets, but to become fur, meat and reptile feed as well. This in itself is enough to make any animal lover cringe, but thankfully, the owners of this cruel operation decided to sell their business and PETA stepped in to give these abuse rabbits a second chance at life.
The conditions that the 80 rabbits who were rescued from the facility can only be described as deplorable. One of the former owners admitted that the rabbit’s cages hadn’t been cleaned in over a year! Luckily, these days of filth and squalor are over for the rabbits and they are well on their way to a new, happy life in the care of loving forever homes.
