Homeless Puppy Chewed Off Her Own Paw Because She Was in So Much Pain – Let’s Help Her Recover!

Stormy is a seven-month-old puppy who should be spending her days learning about the world and playing under the care of a good guardian – but her real situation is bitterly different. This sweet puppy ended up at a kill shelter after a neglected injury put her in so much pain and discomfort that she chewed her own paw off! Thankfully, Stormy was taken in by Rescue Dogs Rock NYC and is now beginning her recovery, but she still needs help.

Stormy’s rescuers are not sure what caused the puppy’s injury, which they estimate happened around two months ago, but they think it may have been a car accident. Sadly, Stormy did not receive any treatment after it happened, which caused the misery that followed.

The pain of the untreated and neglected injury proved to be unbearable for the puppy. Stormy must have been completely panicked and confused, which made her chew persistently at her paw. This clearly did not happen in a day and the rescuers wonder where the puppy was and who was responsible for her at that time.

Little Stormy’s rescuers are going to explore all options when it comes to saving her leg, but, unfortunately, it is most likely that it will have to be amputated. She is now under the vigilant care of the rescue, finally getting everything she needs to get better. “And of course, like so many others, Stormy remains friendly throughout this unbearably horrible ordeal,” the rescuers write. “Dogs are so resilient.”
