Making a jump for freedom can be a scary thing, but for a little piglet named Ahimsa, it was truly a matter of life or death!

Ahimsa was on a transport truck no doubt destined for a future on a dinner plate when instead she fell into the very capable hands of Trew Love Rescue & Sanctuary. And since her rescue, Ahimsa has gone from strength to strength, firmly wedging herself in the hearts (and arms) of the Sanctuary’s volunteers.

Here is Ahimsa making herself firmly at home.

Here she is indulging in one of her favorite treats, a nice crisp lettuce!

Ahimsa likes to visit all of the other animals living at the Trew Love Sanctuary. Here she is on a leash for a walk, probably wondering if she will one day grow up to be this size.

Ahimsa is always on the go, so it’s difficult to catch an image of her that isn’t blurry, but one sure-fire way of keeping her still is a good snuggle. Here she is with the sanctuary’s Trish.

The life she now leads at Trew Love Rescue & Sanctuary is worlds away from the one she was destined for.

One final glimpse at the beautiful Ahimsa indulging in the sweet treat of a banana. We’re so happy you found the perfect forever home, little girl!

We hear so many stories of pigs and piglets destined for slaughter falling off the backs of transport trucks that it’s getting a little ridiculous. Surely these animals are an asset to these people and are worth keeping track of and caring for, instead of let tumble from a fast-moving vehicle, the fall from which might end their lives?! Apparently not … well, their loss is our gain! We get to indulge in seeing the sweet faces of pigs like Ahimsa living fulfilled, happy lives where they otherwise might have not!

Trew Love Rescue & Sanctuary is home to some 83 animals at present, who they house, feed, and ensure their medical needs are met. This is a lot of work and relies heavily on generous donations. If you are able to contribute or would like to know more, please visit their Facebook page.
