A privately run zoo in New Zealand, known as Kamo Wildlife Sanctuary, shut its doors and chose to kill two elderly lions rather than relocate them to a reputable facility. Leaders claimed it was “too complicated” to move them, even though five other lions remain trapped on the property, their future unclear while the site sits in limbo. These animals were kept in captivity for human entertainment and allegedly paid the price when the zoo failed. Sign the petition now to push authorities to investigate this decision and ensure real accountability.

Lions born in captivity cannot survive in the wild, which leaves them entirely dependent on humans to keep them safe when facilities close. Ending a business is never an excuse for ending an animal’s life. New Zealand officials must intervene, protect the remaining lions, and hold those responsible for the killings to account. Please sign the petition now and help prevent this from happening again.
