Our children are the most vulnerable among us and we have a right to expect a certain level of safety around the products for them. A recent study found that 95% of all baby foods on the market in the US contain lead, arsenic, mercury, or cadmium, which are extremely toxic materials. The Food and Drug Administration does not currently set limits on heavy metals for baby foods, specifically, except for arsenic in rice cereal, says CNBC.
We must prioritize the health and safety of babies and young children because their smaller body sizes and metabolism make them more vulnerable to the harmful effects of these contaminants. Not only do most baby foods contain these heavy metals, but one in four contains all four! Consumption of toxic ingredients during early childhood development can have lifelong effects on health outcomes.

We should be doing everything we can to be sure young children are protected from harm and hold the FDA accountable. Parents have the right to know exactly what is going into the food that they’re feeding their children, and we must hold manufacturers responsible for removing toxins from infant and toddler foods. Sign this petition to ask the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to figure out what’s going on and crack down on toxins in baby food!
