Ducks are supposed to have water as their second home but unfortunately a certain flock of ducks was not able to do this until being rescued by Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary.
The sanctuary is located in the iconic upstate New York town of Woodstock, yes where the infamous music festival took place! Their mission is to be hands-on, rescuing, rehabilitating and caring for farmed animal refugee, as well as educating the public. They believe that animals deserve kindness and respect as “creatures that share this earth with us not for us.”
After a year of trying to save over 160 birds from an atrocious hoarding and animal neglect case in the Catskills, Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary was finally able to save the birds after a life of suffering in crowded pens and horrible conditions similar to that of factory farms.
Ducks, geese, turkeys and chickens found at the scene all suffered from malnutrition and some even lost body parts due to frost bite and lack of adequate shelter.
The silver lining is that these ducks were saved and finally get to experience what every other duck deserves: a peaceful, quiet pond to spend their days swimming around in. Watch below as these ducks take the plunge for the first time!
