Amy, a shepherd mix was born in The Netherlands. She was adopted by Linda Pool in 2011 who raised her and loved her. When Pool’s family circumstances changed, though, she had to give Amy back to the breeder while she sorted out either a new housing situation or a new home for Amy. While she was doing so, Amy was sold on to another family by the breeder.

Fast forward almost three years, Amy is found wandering along Interstate-10 in Houston, Texas. When the emaciated dog was taken to the vet, her microchip revealed that the registered owner was Linda Pool, located in The Netherlands. Pool was contacted and couldn’t believe the news.

“After I heard she was fine, I was the happiest girl in the world,” said Pool via Facebook messaging with The Houston Chronicle. Amy is now waiting with a foster family until December 17 when her Mom flies to Houston to pick up her long lost companion. In the mean time, Linda video-chats with her dog, and it turns out that Amy still speaks Dutch!

Linda adopted Amy when she was a puppy in 2011.

Linda had to give Amy back to the breeder, what she thought was a temporary fix for her situation.

Amy was sold on to another family by the breeder and Linda lost hope of seeing her dog again.

Three years later, Amy turns up on the side of the interstate in Houston, Texas.

Her microchip allowed vets to contact Linda and tell her the amazing news.

Linda is picking up her long-lost companion this month to take her back across the ocean to her original home in The Netherlands.
