Although we wish it weren’t the case, the sad reality is it still isn’t unusual to be laughed at for saying that rats are cute or loving or – anything, really, other than dirty pests. While some people dislike rats due to their association with dingy basements, the fact is, the stigma we have against rats is causing them a lot of harm.
Every year, 100 million rats and other rodents are killed in U.S. laboratories during animal experiments. Luckily, there are people fighting to bust these stereotypes wide open by sharing videos of their sweet interactions with these animals.
Rose is a perfect little furry example of the true nature of rats. Before she was rescued by the New Life Animal Sanctuary, she was a laboratory rat. Now, ever since she was adopted, it seems like she is on a mission to be the most loving rat possible. She absolutely excels at bringing her new guardian her toys – and does it while running through a tunnel, to make it even more impressive! Is this not precisely what rats’ intelligence should be used for?
