Katherine Heigl premier 2011

Katherine Heigl, the Emmy-winning actress, animal advocate, and now entrepreneur, has recently launched her ArtWare Shopify store. Inspired by her lifelong passion for animal welfare and advocacy, this online store offers self-designed pet-themed hoodies, T-shirts, tote bags, and mugs. Heigl, known for her roles in Firefly Lane and Grey’s Anatomy, grew up with love for animals, a trait passed down by her mother.

Heigl’s dedication to ending animal cruelty and promoting animal wellness began when she realized the extent of suffering many animals face. Her ArtWare store aims to raise funds and awareness for the cause through her creative designs. Initially hesitant to share her artwork, Heigl decided to be brave and use her talent to make a difference.

The store features four collections inspired by cats and dogs, including the Pit line and the Namaste Cat and Dog ranges. The Ben Davis capsule features a pup graphic inspired by Heigl’s childhood pet. Her illustrations were created using Procreate, a graphic design app that provided a fun and freeing artistic outlet.

Heigl learned how to open a Shopify store through a TikTok video and took charge of the behind-the-scenes work. She plans to expand her store to include more home goods and designs, incorporating her other hobbies and interests over time. In its first year, 100% of the store’s proceeds will be donated to the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, an animal advocacy non-profit organization Heigl created with her mom in 2008.

The actress has taken various steps to promote animal welfare in her personal and professional life. She launched the premium dog food brand Badlands Ranch in 2022 and has made a conscious effort to use cruelty-free, non-animal tested products at home and on set. Heigl believes that people are receptive to using such products; they simply need to be made aware of their existence.

Heigl’s family, including her husband Josh Kelley, three children, eight dogs, and three cats, all live together in their animal-loving household. She encourages her children to be compassionate and involved with their pets, and although she has no plans to adopt more animals herself, she urges others to consider fostering or adopting animals in need.
