A Texas man is going viral after riding a horse through the aisles of a Target store, stunning shoppers and staff. According to Ashley Vega at PEOPLE, the horse defecated on the floor multiple times as employees tried to get the rider to leave.
Some viewers treated it like a harmless joke. Still, it is hard to laugh when someone else is stuck with the cleanup. Retail workers are not props, and they should not have to handle biological waste because a stranger wanted internet points.
It also is not fair to the animals we rely on and care about. A busy store has harsh lighting, loud noises, slippery floors, and tight corners. Even a calm horse can spook, and one slip could injure the rider, the horse, or a child walking by.
Then there is public health. Feces on a store floor is a sanitation issue, full stop. It can trigger extra chemical use and extra waste, and that hits the environment too.
Meanwhile, this kind of stunt normalizes treating working spaces like a playground. If you respect your community, you do not create a mess and walk away. And if you truly love pets, you do not put them in stressful situations just to get a reaction.
There is a better version of modern cowboy culture, one rooted in care, responsibility, and empathy. We can choose that, while also choosing more plant based meals that reduce harm and Pollution. Keep showing up for animals, workers, and the planet, and encourage others to do the same.
