This rescue from Hope For Paws is the perfect example of why giving pets as surprise gifts is a truly bad idea. The team was contacted about a scared dog roaming alone in the streets and hiding in the bushes. Once they arrived at the spot, they worked fast to enclose the area and prevent the dog from escaping. But when they looked under the bushes and finally saw the dog, the rescuers were surprised to find not a big, adult dog, as they were expecting, but a little fluff-ball of a frightened puppy!
To lure him out of his hideout, the rescuers used little bits of a cheeseburger – a greatly successful tool with most scared pups that are, in the end, usually also very hungry. The puppy soon began to wag his little tail and, slowly but surely, follow the bits of food out of the hiding place.
The pup got a new name – Fox, and he was taken to the rescue to get rehydrated and checked over. The carers discovered that little Fox was microchipped, but when they called the number, the person on the other end informed them that she did not want the puppy anymore and had been given the dog as a gift, which she did not really want.
Luckily, Fox is now in the care of people who would never abandon him. This little pup is living it up at his new foster home where he not only has other dogs to play with – but a pig too!

The greatest mistake anyone can make is giving a pet to someone as a gift. It is forcing responsibility on someone else which they most probably didn\’t want in the first place. Its clear the owner of this pet feel indifferent towards companion animals.
I am so thankful Hope for Paws were there to save this beautiful baby.
Fox is so cute who wouldn\’t want to adopt this baby and give it a forever home?
What a little sweetheart! How could ANYONE abandon such a precious life? If the "owner" didn\’t want him, she COULD have taken him to a shelter, but no, she just lets him go to fend for himself. If she didn\’t want the dog, she could have said to the "giver", that she really didn\’t want him. Someone took the time and effort to have him "chipped". Since they know who the owner was, they could and SHOULD bring charges against her. If I didn\’t have as many animals as I do, I would take him in a heartbeat!
