These former bile bears, rescued by Animals Asia, are experiencing more than the sweet taste of freedom, they are also enjoying the sweet taste of delicious strawberry jam. This is their first time indulging in the treat – and it really is the “sweetest” thing ever!
Before the kind team at Animals Asia stepped in, these bears endured unimaginable cruelty and neglect on a bile farm. Like so many others, they lived in confinement for the purposes of having fluid extracted from their gall bladders. The practice of consuming bear bile has existed in Asia for thousands of years, and sadly, because of the quasi-medicinal properties of this product, innocent animals are either killed or enslaved to have the fluid extracted. Moon Bears and Sun Bears are the most sought after victims of this cruel practice.
Animals Asia has introduced many different ways to curb the bear bile industry. They have rescued hundreds of bears in China and Vietnam from bear bile farms. Where is the education to stop this. I despair at the number of quack practices that go in in Asia/China. All governments have a responsibility to dispel such beliefs and protect wildlife.
