From time to time, there are some rather bizarre shows of animal love that make it into the news such as the recent unveiling of a bachelor pad-turned-cat-climbing-heaven (which we think is actually pretty awesome) and Mr. Sheppherd’s will announcement that left his 4,270-square-foot home and $250,000 to his two cats instead of his children or grandchildren.
Yet, this story of animal love certainly takes the cake. Back in August 2012, a 47-year-old British woman named Amanda Rodgers married her dog Sheba in front of 200 people in Split, Croatia.
Rodgers was once married to a man about 20 years ago, yet, as Metro reports, the relationship ended just a few months after.
According to Rodgers, she wanted to “mark what Sheba means” to her with the wedding ceremony.
“Sheba had been in my life for years, making me laugh and comforting me when I was feeling low,” she said. “I couldn’t think of anything more I’d need from a life partner.”
Sheba and Rodgers are not legally married. However, Rodgers did go through the usual wedding preparation steps, including getting down on one knee to propose to Sheba.
“I could tell by her tail wagging that she said ‘yes,’” Rodgers said.
Rodgers deemed the wedding day “wonderful,” and even gave Sheba a kiss “to seal the deal,” as reported by Metro.
While Rodgers love definitely seems unconventional, it really isn’t that far-fetched. Yes, the ceremony might have been a bit much, but the love many guardians have for their companion animals often runs deep. They are more than “pets,” they are best friends; they are family.

For what? A joke or a parody? I mean, he’s created chaos on the planet and is, after all, the anti-Christ, but … he is now the devil of jokes?
